"The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) was formed in 1973 to campaign for voluntary crash helmet use. Since that time MAG has broadened the scope of its activities, making MAG the leading body campaigning on behalf of motorcyclists in the UK. For more information see the main MAG site or click on the MAG logo at the top left of every page.

We are one of the 16 regional groups that are made up of a number of local groups. We aim to keep local members informed of MAG activities and to enable local members to have a voice nationally through local and regional group meetings. In addition to this we organise and participate in a number of social activities, including rallies, runs and charity events.

WE NEED YOU!!!

At the moment we are looking for contributors to this site to make it the most comprehensive of the regional sites. If you have something to say about bikes, bikers, events, or any other links that need to be on this site - PLEASE LET US KNOW. You can make your voice heard here!

Parliamentary Committee backs MAG concerns over DSA

‘It will take a long time and much resource to mend what has been broken, but the Government and DSA now need to take urgent action…’ That is one of the less damning conclusions reached by a watchdog committee of MPs investigating the catastrophic implementation of the new test.

Local Issues

The West Midlands is undergoing the biggest shake up of it's transport network in years. With proposals for congestion charging, bus lanes, red routes and car sharing lanes. Now more than ever MAG needs you to help make Councils see two wheeled transport as a useful tool in helping to ease traffic congestion, and look favourably on Power Two Wheelers when it comes to making any plans for it's roads.
You can view the West Midlands Local Transport Plan and see for yourself what is being planned. I urge everyone to have a look and urge the council to allow Power Two Wheelers excemption from any charging.

Birmingham City Council to open bus lanes to motorcycles

Bikers' group MAG applauds Birmingham bus lane decision

MAG applauds the decision by Birmingham City Council to open its bus lanes to motorcycles.  In an effort to make more effective and efficient use of its roads, Birmingham City Council recently completed an experiment allowing motorcycles to use bus lanes. The policy allows motorcyclists to see and be seen in congested traffic.

The Birmingham experiment confirmed the experience of other towns and cities, that allowing motorcycles to use bus lanes was beneficial to motorcyclists, with no disadvantages to other road users.

MAG in Birmingham and nation-wide has been campaigning on this issue for years, first winning access to bus lanes throughout Bristol in 1996.

London opened all of its major route bus lanes to motorcycles recently and now the second biggest city in the country has followed suit.

MAG President Ian Mutch said ‘There seems to be an outbreak of sanity among local authorities all over the country, this is great news and shows how MAG's campaigning is helping to produce real results for riders.
